![]() For Weekend Edition Saturday, NPR's Jacki Lyden reports on the man and the myth. But his true story and legacy is still a subject of debate among historians - everything from his sexuality, to his Arab style of dress, to whether he ever really reached the Syrian capital of Damascus at all. Thomas Edward Lawrence was the dashing, romanticized British officer credited with leading the Arab revolt against the Turks during World War I - a feat depicted in the epic film Lawrence of Arabia. Bush was recently depicted on one magazine cover wearing Lawrence's Arab headdress. There have been many references to the fabled Lawrence of Arabia in the press lately - "Wolfowitz of Arabia" was a recent New York Times headline, in reference to Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz' role in determining the future of Iraq and nation-building in the Middle East. Peter Sokolov is the HIGHLIGHT of this book. Peter hadn’t yet finished checking off everyone on the list. The plot is built everything up so well, the calm before the storm because you know it is not the end. I couldn’t stop swiping through the pages. I was on the edge of my seat, the angst, the suspense, Peter’s darkness, Sara’s courage to withstand his assaults, all the threads that Anna has so beautifully woven. I was impatiently waiting for them to do IT haha! Both of them are well-developed characters. She tolerates and goes along with it because she fears he will follow through with his threats.īut as Peter reveals his lighter side–and no, his darkness never leaves them – she begins to feel something for him. He knows everything about her–her friends, family, her life, her daily routine. Sara doesn’t understand Peter’s stalker-ish tendencies and is afraid of him. The pace of the story is slow, but just right–establishing Peter as this caring yet dominant and obsessive about Sara. It is a slow-burn between Peter and Sara. For a Dark Romance–it actually doesn’t veer off in that direction in the second part. ![]() ![]() ![]() However in the year 2015, she and Caroline (her sister) got to talking about attempting to make something real out of their pipe dreams from them becoming authors and they got their first solo project manuscripts finished up and then published on Amazon.Įventually, after they’d published several of their own series they decided they would use the power of the sister twin brain in order to co-write and they have not looked back since then. She began writing so far back that she cannot even remember at this point, just drawing picture books or jotting ideas down as a child and then beginning and not completing many stories when she was a teen. Susanne enjoys all things fictional and strives to create fictional tales which give her readers a true sense of friendship, adventure, and love with a nice twist of the unknown tossed in for good measure. ![]() ![]() They have two beautiful children, a son and a daughter. ![]() She is married to a guy she met when she was only seventeen that seemed like he’d be a keeper, so she held on tight. Turns out this wasn't the best decision she releases the evil god Seth himself when she removes the Amulet from his sarcophagus, and as the world begins to fall apart around her, she needs to find a way to set things right. Fast forward to the present: a more familiar, pistol-wielding Lara visits Egypt to recover the Amulet of Horus, located in the Tomb of Seth. Things go awry, and Lara barely manages to escape the collapsing ruins while her mentor is trapped by the Iris' defensive mechanism. ![]() ![]() This remarkable volume, written by a physicist who mingled in Einstein's scientific circle, forms a timeless and classic biography of the towering figure of twentieth-century science. ![]() Pais also fills many gaps in what we know of Einstein's life - his interest in philosophy, his concern with Jewish destiny, and his opinions of great figures from Newton to Freud. The profound transformation Einstein's ideas effected on the physics of the turn of the century is here laid out for the serious reader. Pais examines the formulation of Einstein's theories of relativity, his work on Brownian motion, and his response to quantum theory with authority and precision. His biography combines a profound understanding of Einstein's work with personal recollections from their years of acquaintance, illuminating the man through the development of his scientific thought. First published in 1982 by Oxford University Press, the book is one of the most acclaimed biographies of the scientist. The late Abraham Pais was a distinguished physicist turned historian who knew Einstein both professionally and personally in the last years of his life. Subtle is the Lord: The Science and the Life of Albert Einstein is a biography of Albert Einstein written by Abraham Pais. Subtle is the Lord is widely recognized as the definitive scientific biography of Albert Einstein. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also liked Lara Jean’s other love interest (I won’t mention his name and spoil you). But we also got to further see what a good person he is, so I forgave him quite easily. At times, I was very frustrated with Peter and how he handled things with Lara Jean. I liked the way the story played out, though I do wish we could’ve seen more of Lara Jean and Peter together. Essentially, the themes that were explored in the first book were further delved into in this sequel. It’s a very quick and easy read about love and relationships, not only with a romantic partner but also with family. Probably not more than To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but it was still a highly enjoyable read. Love is never easy, but maybe that’s part of what makes it so amazing. ![]() In this charming and heartfelt sequel to the New York Times bestseller To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, we see first love through the eyes of the unforgettable Lara Jean. Can a girl be in love with two boys at once? When another boy from her past returns to her life, Lara Jean’s feelings for him return too. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever. Lara Jean didn’t expect to really fall for Peter.
